| MEDICATION AND DEPRESSION |
 |
Some medical treatments are recognized as causing depressive symptoms: |
| |
cancer therapies |
| |
cardiovascular drugs (beta blockers, digoxin) |
| |
steroids (prednisone) |
| |
L-dopa for Parkinson's disease. |
|
|
Once organic causes
for symptoms have been ruled out, physicians can be reasonably certain
they are dealing with a major depressive episode, even if the patient
does not acknowledge feelings of depression.
